Cabbage (Brassica oleracea) is a round vegetable with layers of leaves composing its structure. Depending on variety the outer leaves of the cabbage can be dark green or purple, and turn white as they get closer to the core.

Cabbage is known to contain powerful antioxidants which can help reduce the risk of cancer, and breast cancer in particular. Cabbage also contains an amino acid called glutamine which is highly anti-inflammatory and effective in treating peptic acid ulcers. *Some of these health benefits are due to the nutrients highly
concentrated in Cabbage, and may not necessarily be related to Cabbage.
In old European medicine cabbage leaves were applied to areas of the body to treat acute inflammation. The Romans thought highly of cabbage and considered it to be a panacea, capable of healing many ills.
