Effective date: September 3, 2026
This policy explains how MyFoodData collects, uses, stores, and discloses information when you use the MyFoodData website, food-logging application, or native mobile applications (together, the “Service”). The information we process depends on the features you choose to use.
We use information to:
We do not sell your personal information. We disclose information only as needed to operate the Service, at your direction, or for legal and security reasons. Service providers may process information on our behalf, including:
Foods you contribute to the shared food database can be available to other users. Recipes, meals, day plans, and food logs remain private unless you deliberately share them or use a feature that clearly identifies the content as public.
Health integrations are optional and require your permission. You can change or revoke their access in the relevant platform or connected-service settings. MyFoodData uses health data to provide the logging, synchronization, nutrition, fitness, and reporting features you request. We do not sell health data or use data obtained from Apple Health or Health Connect for advertising. We limit access to the data types needed for enabled features.
The Service may store account-scoped caches, preferences, and pending changes in cookies, browser storage, or an on-device database so that it can remain signed in, load faster, and work offline. Optional features may request access to the camera, photo library, microphone, speech recognition, notifications, Apple Health, or Health Connect. You can manage these permissions in your device settings. Signing out clears supported account caches on the device, but it does not delete your account.
The public articles and legacy tools on MyFoodData.com use Google Analytics to understand site use. They may also display advertising provided by CMI Marketing, Inc., d/b/a Raptive, which may collect and use information for advertising purposes. See Google Analytics privacy information and the Raptive privacy statement. The main food-logging app does not use Raptive advertising or Google Analytics, but it does record first-party feature usage and diagnostics and may display MyFoodData or affiliate promotions.
Advertisements do not affect our opinions or nutrition information, and advertising funding does not control our editorial content.
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate security, support, accounting, fraud-prevention, and legal purposes. Retention varies by data type and may continue after you stop using the Service.
You can request account deletion in the app under Profile > Delete Account. You can also request deletion without the app by using our contact form and writing “Delete my MyFoodData account” with the email address associated with the account. Deleting an account removes the account and primary private food-logging content from the active Service. We may retain limited billing, security, legal, fraud-prevention, diagnostic, and deletion-request records where necessary. Aggregated or de-identified information, foods contributed to the shared database, and content you deliberately made public may remain.
Deleting your MyFoodData account does not automatically cancel an Apple, Google Play, Stripe, or PayPal subscription. Cancel recurring subscriptions with the provider that bills you.
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You may update profile information and integration settings in the app, disconnect supported health services, change device permissions, disable reminders, or request account deletion. Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete personal information.
We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will post the current version here and update the effective date above. For privacy questions or requests, please contact us.
